Visa Making Rule Updates for Increased Security

Are you aware that Visa made updates to their rules? The new rule changes were put in place to address the increase of fraud in Card Not Present (CNP) transactions everywhere across Canada. The updates also change the fallback rules for domestic authorization requests.

What does this mean for you?

Effective October 14, 2017, merchants have been required to capture the CVV2 number (the three digits on the back of the card) for all transactions moving forward. While often there is a delay in rolling out requirements, you should modify your business policies today to start capturing this data.
